In 1982 the author, a 20 year old from Leicester, went to London to work as a nanny for a very particular family.  She had no idea how to cook, look after children or the cat, or who were the weirdos and neighbours who called round.  Alan Bennet lived nearby, George Melly, Jonathan Miller, Michael Frayn, Delia Smith, Rik Mayall and many others have walk-on parts. This novel is the collection of letters she wrote home.  Funny, and sharp, and full of laugh out louds.
