The novel is set in late 1938 between Berlin and Leningrad. Thomas and Sasha have great plans for their lives and careers; however Thomas finds himself putting his market research skills to work in elaborating Nazi propaganda, while Sasha works as a literary editor of confessions for Stalin’s secret police in order to save her own family.  Destiny brings them together. Good People has been showered with praise in many countries.
