According to family legend, Ferguson’s grandfather left Minsk on foot with 100 rubles sewn into the lining of his jacket and arrived in New York on the first day of the twentieth century. The novel follows Ferguson, born in New Jersey in 1947 and takes four simultaneous and independent fictional paths. This is an inventive, well-constructed novel about a boy growing up again, and again and again in rotating narratives.
